There are several ways to track your progress throughout this program, and the best indicators of fat loss are body measurements, progress photos, and how your clothes fit. That’s why it’s so important to enter these details into the app—I’ll add reminders to your calendar to help you stay consistent with tracking.
While many people focus on the scale, it’s actually one of the least reliable tools for measuring true progress. The scale reflects everything in your body—muscle, fat, water, inflammation, even food and waste—which can fluctuate daily for countless reasons unrelated to fat gain or loss. To gain a single pound of body fat, you’d need to consume 3,500 calories over your maintenance in a single day, which is rare. So, those sudden jumps on the scale are almost always due to water retention, food volume, or hormonal shifts, not actual body fat gain.
The scale can also mask progress. For example, if you’re building muscle and losing fat at the same time, the scale may stay the same or even increase slightly, even though you’re becoming leaner and stronger. That’s why photos, measurements, and how your clothes feel are such powerful tools—they capture changes in body composition that the scale can’t reflect.
When the scale does go down, it’s not always a sign of fat loss. Without enough strength training and protein intake, weight loss often includes muscle loss, which can actually slow your metabolism and affect how you feel and look. By focusing on measurements, photos, and clothing fit, you’re able to see real, meaningful changes in your body and stay motivated by results that reflect your hard work.
